Description

Cornish Pilot Gig race from St Mary’s Quay on the Isles of Scilly. Newquay Rowing Club's Cornish Pilot Gig, 'Treffry' is crewed by the first Newquay crew to visit the islands, they were: Ewart Kennedy (coxswain), John Bawden, R Pearce, P Crantock, G Northey, D Todman and A Henwood. Also racing are ‘Shah' and 'Bonnet'. All of these Cornish Pilot Gigs were built by the Peters family of St Mawes: 'Bonnet' around 1830 , 'Treffry' around 1838 and 'Shah' in 1873.
