Description

Betty Pascoe, née Thomas, recalls her time as a pupil at Helston Council School. She describes the school moving from Shute Hill to Penrose Road in 1940. She shares her memories of wartime in the community and evacuees at the school. Helston Council School became Helston Secondary Modern School and was later renamed Helston County Secondary School. In the sixties and early seventies the Penrose Road school was known locally as the ‘Green School’ because of its uniform of dark green and grey.
