These photographs are from Glyn's personal collection, taken during a 36-year career with Cornwall's fishery protection agency as the Engineer/Fishery Officer. Many of the pictures within this collection were taken while aboard the patrol boats Palores, Verifier, and Saint Piran, as they went about their business patrolling the seas around Cornwall's beautiful coast.

Glyn Richards joined the Cornwall Sea Fisheries Protection Service as the Engineer/Fishery Officer where he was to spend the next 36 years patrolling the coasts of Cornwall from their base in Newlyn. Glyn's interest in photography grew as time went by. The patrol boats were a unique platform, the subjects endless with constantly changing scenes, cliff scenery, wildlife, working fishermen, their vessels and the many types of ships that passed them by.

These photographs were digitised as part of the MemoryFish project.

                  <text>
Billy Stevenson has worked in the fishing industry his entire working life. His photographic collection is well-known in Newlyn.

However, it is not so well-known that Billy is a keen amateur photographer himself. He has documented, through his photography, all aspects of fishing life in and around Newlyn. From community events through to the harsh realities of life at sea, to boats, maintenance and engineering, his collection is a hugely important study of fishing through the latter half of the 20th century.

A sample of Billy's collection is presented here, from the otherwise largely ignored period from the mid 1970s to mid 1980s.
